45n5 recently did the top100 list for make money online blogs, which was worked out on google page rank, alexa rank and technorati rank. A lot of people suggested for the list to include RSS readers into the ranking system, which so far hasn’t been implemented. I thought it might interesting to look at the RSS figures for the blogs in the Top100 list by 45n5.
Two things I noticed by looking on everyone of these blogs was many blogs had their RSS numbers hidden which kind of makes this list a little inaccurate, but still interesting none the less and also nearly every blog is using the new blogrush widget.
I would of liked to have made the list a Top 100 list in order of RSS there was some many blogs not publicizing their RSS numbers it proved too difficult. If you would like to be added to the List then please contact me

“many blogs had their RSS numbers hidden which kind of makes this list a little inaccurate”
? your top 10 has almost the exact same blogs as my ranking
“I would of liked to have made the list a Top 100 list in order of RSS there was some many blogs not publicizing their RSS numbers it proved too difficult.”
That is why I didn’t use the rss count, because it isn’t a universal stat. I’m currently ranking about 175 blogs so I had to go with what is universal, otherwise I’d be guessing all day long.
I’ll be updating my list to add another pretty cool metric in the next week or two, based from visitor feedback, stay tuned

“? your top 10 has almost the exact same blogs as my ranking ;-)”
there is some big differences in the top 10 than in your top 10, for example 9. tylercruz – 807 -
10. blogtrepreneur – 784 and 7. Net Business Blog - 1,654
However I realize that there is inaccuracies in the list, but I thought it may be interesting to to see a list based on RSS readers and see how the list changed to yours.

@marc - it is interesting to see the list ordered by rss subscribers
cool list.

Hey Marc - thanks for including Blogtrepreneur in the list. Unless Google starts publishing official feed numbers like Bloglines, it’s going to continue to be very hard to measure feed stats and subscribers, because some people just don’t want to publish figures.
And I think DoshDosh has around 4k subs - that’s a guess - but I think I’m right - hopefully Maki will step in here. So it should be at around the 5/6 level.
Great thinking to follow on the linkbait!

Cool! I am up there on #36. *waves*
I will make a mention on my blog soon. Tks.

If that’s accurate, I’m at least #42 on that list… 2 days ago I had 70 subscribers just at Google.
September 17th, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Yes but your figures are not public Tad…

Hey Marc thanks for including SmartWealthyRich on your list, really appreciate it!
(I’m at 393 subscribers now hehe)
By the way Maki from DoshDosh should maybe be a little higher on the list, his advertise page says 6000+ subscribers - http://www.doshdosh.com/advertise/

It’s an interesting list for sure, would you mind adding Blogging Experiment to it? (today FeedBurner is reporting 205).

@Jon - no problem m8, I feel as if I should really have included Dosh Dosh in the list now because we can’t really tell were it should go obviously. But i needed another blog to make it 50 so there you go..
@Ben - Thanks for your comment, blogging experiment is added its #33. I’ve got to keep the figures how they were at the time of me looking at every blog otherwise it wont be fair. I might do an update on the list soon and see if theres any change.

First things first , thanks for the mention !
Does Feedburner have an API that you could query such things ?

Thanks for the include. I moved up 25 spots from the 45n5 list…so I’m loving it! Wonder if we can figure out a metric that would get me into the top 10?

September 18th, 2007 at 9:40 pm
Hey Marc, you could include Performancing.com on your list also, with 6200+ RSS Subscribers
September 18th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
I think that a metric that cannot be easily “gamed” such as feedcount is more reliable than the three that the original 45n5 list uses. Good work, particularly as my blog rose about 40 spots in your list compared to the 45n5 list

Up until you mentioned the RSS readers point I would have thought the top sites are those that are ranked in top positions on google for the most competitive words like make money etc.. But I suppose if someone has a 20k email list they could be pulling in 20k per month in revenue.
