Been a long time since I have last wrote anything on my blog and the main reason for this is that I have been at University and haven’t had much time to write anything…
Lets get back to the topic of this post. Irony of life and google?
Well, when I first started this blog many months ago I tried so hard with link building and SEO to get to the top spot of my targeted keyword ‘make money online’ but I only managed to get to page 3. My other main desire was to achieve page rank.
Now it seems that I did achieve Page rank in the last update and was given PR3, however it was taken back by google just weeks after it was given… On the other hand I did not continue with my link building efforts, yet my posistion in the google listings increase to page 1 rank5th! for my targeted search term ‘make money online’. The god of google works in mysterious ways…
Now I am getting traffic from google which is what I wanted in the first place I believe I have lost my original readership I had from posting on a regular basis!
So I think I am going to set an experiment here can I beat my old traffic by simply posting on a regular basis along with google traffic?
OR
Does all the other stuff such as commenting on other blogs and other promotion techniques really matter that much ?

Good post. I don’t think that the comments and all of the other things that are often quoted about building traffic is as important as many say. Expecially when you figure it from a return on investment of time. Writing posts, not even always good posts, are more important. I also think patience is key as it takes a while for google to update certain pages and I think that is what most people don’t take into effect. It takes a month or more before posts make it into the regular listings. At least that is my thoughts and observations from a few simple tests that I have run.

Hi Brian,
Many thanks for your comment. I agree with you regarding the return of investment of time. This is why I am going to try and do this experiment as whilst I am at University I simply don’t have enough time to do all the other promotional techniques.
Once again thanks for you comment!

Good luck! I am interested to see the results of your experiment. How long will the experiment last?
My early bet says that you will see better traffic within two months of starting your experiment because it simple takes Google that long to add new posts to the index in many cases. Just my hunch. Let the games begin!!

Thanks! I Think I will do it for at least 3 months and see what happens from there.
