A lot of people would like to start an online business, but don’t have the money to invest into it. This post will aim to help you launch your business without spending a penny! The beauty of this method is that you can try out different niches with little to no investment.

The first thing you need to do is forget about hiring people to do anything for you, do as much as possible yourself. If you don’t know how to make a logo or website then learn! there are plenty of useful tutorials out there which make it simple to learn new skills.

Separate your finances

Go to the bank (or go online) and create a new current account for you to put all your earnings from your new business. Then create a new paypal and or Google checkout account and attach it to your new bank account. This way you will easily be able to keep track of what your new business is making.

Choose a domain name

Choose a domain name that is keyword friendly to your new business idea. For example if your creating a driving lessons business then use something like drivinglessonscheshire.com, this will help you get a better google rank when you come to market your business.

Create a simple website

There is free software available to help you do this such as joomla and wordpress. This site uses wordpress for example. The advantage of using one these is that there is several free themes available to customize your site once its installed.

Set your prices (if selling somthing)

Most new business persons tend to set their prices too low and think more people will buy because of its low price. People think low price then its low quality. You should set your prices to the top third of your industry, as its easier to lower your prices than it is to higher them.

Start marketing with craigslist.com

This is a free classified ads website with millions of viewers from all over the world. You can get some traffic instantly by making regular listings on their website.

Start marketing with gumtree.com

gumtree.com is very similar to craigslist.com except the fact that it is dedicated to UK users. Again regular posts will get instant traffic!

Post a video on youtube.com

you tube is a video sharing website with a huge amount of traffic. This is easier than it sounds it doesn’t have to be professional at all. You can record one with your digital camera or webcam, make a screen recording of your computer (even a powerpoint presentation) with software like Camtasia. Create a video about something useful and put your website URL at the end. You will surely get traffic.

Network your family and friends

send a email to everyone in your contact list, telling them about your new business. Put a message at the end of the email to forward the email to anyone who might find it interesting. That way you can reach a large amount of people from just one email.

Write a eBook then give it away!

Even if you aren’t a writer, you can put together a great article. Think of something your potential customers might want to know. For example with driving lessons ‘10 top tips to pass your driving test’. Contact owners of websites who might find it useful to have your eBook for content then put a link to your site on every page!
