I recently come across a site called Google shadow. I thought it was a brilliant idea as it uses a black background rather than white it saves power of up to 20%. Google shadow provides a .gov link to show the evidence behind this idea. They are also upfront and honest about the amount of money generated by using Google shadow which is $0.01 which half of that income is given to charity!
I take my hat off to the person who has created this site because a lot of people will switch because of the charity and the energy saving. In reality this site is no doubt amazing money maker.
I would like to add one more point to this post.. I am getting a lot of visitors to this site but not many comments on the posts. If you are reading this now post a comment and say you were here! don’t forget to put your website in as it gives you another link!

This seems to be a ripoff of Blackle (www.blackle.com) which was one of the first energy saving search sites. If you are really into this concept, try downloading the Styler extension for Firefox, it allows you to download custom stylesets and CSS templates from userstyles.org, many people have made black background ones for mainstream websites.

Lol, these sites seem to be spreading… first I saw blackle then this: http://www.earthle.com/ (which I believe is by the same owner as blackle) and now this new one.

I prefer http://www.keepglobe.com over Blackle. They donate 50% of revenue to a green cause and it is hosted on a server that is powered by wind and sun energy. They also have an image search. Black search engines do not save energy as they claim and also my eyes twitch after seeing that black background.
