Everyone will have failed projects no matter who you are, you can’t win all the time! What I have tended to do in the past with my failed projects was to just simply leave them to rot and not take advantage of the small amount of traffic they get.
So, Recently I thought I would optimize my failed projects with google adsense putting 3 adsense blocks in where I thought were the best positions. I found my adsense income doubled over the next month (most of my income comes from affiliate marketing) and is continuing to steady at this same rate. So it goes to show even failed projects can add that little bit extra cash in your pocket!
Of course there is other options with failed projects such as selling the domain name or selling the site as a whole these options have never appealed to me as you often get peanuts for the domain/site if there is no pagerank.
