If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

When blogrush came out the other day it was the big guys like John Chow, ProBlogger and Shoemoney who got most of the referrals. Thats because they get to know about the launches of new sites quickly. This could be because they know the person who is launching the site or they could be using a service like KillerStartups.com.

KillerStartups show a list with a short description of new website launches. This is useful as if you get in one something quick, such as blog rush you can benefit a whole lot more than if you didn’t.

Of course this is not the main reason why they got most of the referrals, its because they have a large audience and influence on their readers, theres no quick fix to get that so one thing you can do is take a peak at Killerstartups and see what interesting sites are getting launched.

I got some great information in my mail box from sabahan this afternoon on how to see a non-public feed count. At first I thought yes!!!! This is the answer to making the top 50 make money online blogs ordered by RSS without errors. I started looking at some of the blogs in the 45n5 Top100 list that were not public…

Then I realized maybe some of these bloggers have their feeds private for a reason! they dont want them public, so if I was to publicize them it wouldn’t be too smart… So if you want to checkout how big of a feed a blog has thats not public check this out…

“In general all feeds on FeedBurner start with the address feeds.feedburner.com/feedname

To view the FeedCount for a blog, just add ~fc/ so that the new URL becomes

feeds.feedburner.com/~fc/feedname

Therefore, Sabahan.com feed count would be feeds.feedburner.com/~fc/sabahancom.

If the FeedCount is not enabled, you’ll get a message saying FeedCount is not enabled for that feed.”

As many of you already know blog rush was launched a few days ago and everyone seemed to be posting about it. I decided not to post about it and see if the thing actually works. Well after the day or two I’ve had it on my blog its brought me 11 uniques which ain’t so bad really, considering I haven’t even got anyone to sign up under me.

Eh? What are you talking about, I don’t know WTF BlogRush is?

Ok so you haven’t read any other blogs for the past few days and my blog is the first one your reading… Watch this video and find out what it is….

If you haven’t signed up already to blog rush I suggest you do as this looks like a really good program to be apart of, with big blogs like ProBlogger, John Chow and Shoemoney already apart of it.

45n5 recently did the top100 list for make money online blogs, which was worked out on google page rank, alexa rank and technorati rank. A lot of people suggested for the list to include RSS readers into the ranking system, which so far hasn’t been implemented. I thought it might interesting to look at the RSS figures for the blogs in the Top100 list by 45n5.

Two things I noticed by looking on everyone of these blogs was many blogs had their RSS numbers hidden which kind of makes this list a little inaccurate, but still interesting none the less and also nearly every blog is using the new blogrush widget.

I would of liked to have made the list a Top 100 list in order of RSS there was some many blogs not publicizing their RSS numbers it proved too difficult. If you would like to be added to the List then please contact me

Its sunday! Doesn’t that hang over feel great? Well you had a good time last night so its time to sit back relax and read some blogs! I’ve got just the thing for you! I’ve rounded up some links to some of the best articles I’ve read this week so enjoy!

1) Entrepreneur Blog - Written by Thomas Sinfield recently took part in my Review my blog for a backlink? marketing campaign. Tom talks about the importance of building a network and gives examples of real life situations were networking has really been a useful thing.

2) AGLOCO Scam Tries To Silence CashQuests

This post by Kumiko over at CashQuests is hilarious and just goes to show I’m not the only person who decided to pull the plug with agloco. You can tell how pissed he is whilst hes writing it!

3) Learn To Spider And Check Up On Your Link Partners

This post by Derek Beau.com shows you how to checkup on your link exchanges quite easily with a php script. This is good for people like myself who don’t know PHP as it helps you start to understand the code a little.

4) The 4 Ways of Building Traffic to a Blog and Why Most Bloggers Pick the Wrong Method

This is a great article by Yaro Starak puts it simply the 4 ways of getting traffic. One thing he mentions in his post is content is NOT king. I understand what he is saying that you cannot rely solely on your content to bring traffic but content is still king in my mind because without content why would someone what to come to your site…

5) It looks like I won the lottery, lucky me

Christian R gets pissed off with the spammers saying he’s won the lottery and posts about it… quite funny really, I too get these emails on a regular basis and I know the piss me off.

dealdotcom Dealdotcom is a brand new website thats not even live yet. It goes live on the 18th of September! This site basically sells one item per day. To give the item a maximum coverage. The item has to be something related to online business, like increasing traffic or SEO or whatever. But the best thing about it everything on dealdotcom has a huge discount, they won’t allow you to sell your product unless your offering a massive discount. So its good for the buyers.

They also offer an RSS feed so you can keep up to date daily with what product is on offer. You’ll need to do this because once a product has finished for the day or sells out you can’t buy it! you loose your chance on a massive saving!

Right so lets get this down to basics…. How can you make money from this?

1) You can sell your online products on dealdotcom and get a massive amount of sales (the alexa rank for yesterday was 3,085! Thats a large amount of traffic!)

2) You can invite others to use dealdotcom and make money through their affiliate program

“anytime they ever buy anything from us, you get paid. Our affiliate program is 2-tiered, so not only will you get paid for purchases that your friend makes, but you’ll also get paid for purchases that THEIR friends make.”

“Whenever you refer someone to DealDotCom via your handy-dandy affiliate link, you get paid 35% of DealDotCom’s profit for every item that they buy. If someone you referred to DealDotCom refers someone else, you get paid 15% of DealDotCom’s profit every time they buy something for the rest of your life.”

How and When do I get paid?

“If you have a PayPal account, DealDotCom can pay you through that. We can also send you a check via snail mail if you’re still living in the Dark Ages.”

“DealDotCom pays affiliate commissions 30 days after the end of the month. This gives a chance for all the wusses who want refunds to request them so that we can finalize everything. For example, if you earn $1,000,000 in affiliate commissions during the month of November, your check or Paypal payment will go out on the last day of December.”

My invite from me to you!

wpta.gifWP Text Ads is a plugin for wordpress that allows you to sell text link ads on your blog without paying any commissions to any third party (example: text link ads). This isn’t just a plugin there is a full market place for you to get potential buyers from. Advertisers pay you through PayPal or your preferred method. Since no fee is paid to a middle man, your profits are higher even if you set lower ad rates.

WP Text Ads offers advertisers 3 ways to buy ads in content-relevant pages:

  • Individual post
  • Home page
  • All pages

Rather than a fixed price, now your advertisers can choose to buy ads for $5 per post, $30 for the home page or $50 for every page. You set the prices, and he benefits from the savings.

This service is free to try with upto 2 ads active or you can buy a full version for $127 per license. The owner of WP Text Ads Alex Choo is so confident that you will make money from this that he offers a 180 days money back guarantee if you don’t make the cost of the license you will get your money back!

I had a chat with Alex about a possible affiliate program for WP Text Ads and he said its a matter of when rather than if. So soon this could be a big earner on the affiliate front just like text link ads.

Seems to be big news this week that my fellow blogger Mark from 45n5 has created a ‘Top 100 list of make money online blogs‘. This probably isn’t big news to you because Mark has managed to pull in some big links from people such as John Chow and also several other blogs. As a result of this link baiting technique….. well… just look at his alexa graph….

If only I thought of this idea first….

But this just goes to show the power of link baiting.. getting some links of some major blogs and even off some smaller blogs can seriously impact your traffic. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to think of a link baiting idea…

I installed a firefox plugin today called: SEO Firefox Plugin which gives a host of information about a site.

pluginsshot.gif

According to this I have 159 page in google’s supplemental index. The supplemental index is were unworthy pages end up rather than the proper google index. This does not mean that 159 of my pages are unworthy pages but means it more than likely duplicate content. An interesting article on the subject from Nathan Metzger of Not So Boring Life

“Lots of SEO masters believe that content that isn’t worthy ends up in the supplemental index. While this is certainly true, if you’re running a wordpress blog it is more likely that you’re simply dealing with duplicate content issues. If you make a post today on a default wordpress setup, there are about 5 different URLs you could type in that would give you the exact same content. You can generally get to the same content via the Category, Calendar, Author, Monthly, and Page archives. Unless you know exactly what you’re doing your site is probably heavily cached in the supplemental index.”

By reducing the number of pages your site or blog has in the supplemental index will have a positive effect on your google traffic. According to Nathan Metzger he saw a 20% increase in his google traffic. Also Shoemoney saw an increase of 1400% in his google traffic by getting out of the supplemental index.

You can get out of the supplemental index by telling google what it can and cant look at via robots.txt. You can see my robots.txt file here
