If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

It was confirmed today that I will be studying at the University of Sheffield for Chemical Engineering (5 Year Course)! Previously on my about page I did say I was going to go to Manchester University but at last minute I decided to change my mind as I feel Sheffield is the right one for me.

As you can imagine this past couple of week have been a bit stressful waiting for confirmation of my place on the course. Now that I have my place it feels like a big relief as I was stressed at times. Of course writing the blog has been a help as it got university off my mind.

I start my course on 24/09/2007 so there maybe a period were I need some guest bloggers. If anyone is interested please use my contact page!

There has been a new service launched called blogLOUDER which offers 1on1 coaching on your blog. The service is being offered by Adnan of Blogtrepreneur at very good prices. As Technorati is coming up to its 100 millionth blog, many of these blogs don’t last past their 3rd month maybe its because they don’t know about the services of blogLOUDER?

The 1on1 help is done by the Instant Messenger of your choice and may cover topics like rss subscribership boost, revenue optimization, content creation, online goals, and more.

This is definitely a site to bookmark for the future in case you hit a dead end and need a helping hand.

If you’ve started a new blog or project and its not going as well as you would like do not worry help is at hand with this post for some motivation!

1. Download and listen to ‘The O’Jays - For the love of money’

For some reason this song motivates me and makes me want to make money! also is a pretty good classic tune!

2. Have a Major Goal

Set yourself a major goal you would like to achieve with your blog or site. This will give you focus on what you are trying to achieve with all the hard work and effort you are putting into your project. For example my goal for this blog is to make and continue to make $1,000/month.

3. Break up the major goal into smaller goals

If you are constantly concentrating on your major goal you can often get down hearted about not hitting your target straight away. Instead set your self small goals on a monthly or weekly basis. For example this month I set myself a goal to double my traffic to my blog from last month and so far I am on target to do that. This helps to keep me motivated as the target isn’t as far away as the major target.

4. Set realistic goals

Its no good giving yourself a goal thats completely not achievable because your simply setting yourself up for disaster and de-motivation! Its better to over achieve a target rather than not hit a target.

5. Change your desktop picture

Change your desktop picture to something motivational, perhaps something you want to gain in the future like a house, sports car or just simply money!

6. Give yourself rewards for goal completion

When you give yourself a reward for completing a goal, subconsciously you will want to hit your next target to get another reward. This also makes it worth while for all the work you’ve put into your project.

7. Surround yourself with positive persons

Always avoid moaners and people that complain all the time, these people will put you into a negative mindset and therefore de-motivate you. Try to have relationships with people who are successful and positive as they will inspire you and motivate you to do well.

8. Don’t overwork

Overworking can often lead to de-motivation as you can feel like work is all you do. Taking regular breaks can help to keep you motivated.

9. Remember things don’t happen over night

I hope some I these tips will be of help to you and help keep you motivated on your projects!

If you haven’t already noticed there is a new edition to the sidebar on my blog. The wordpress plugin is called WP-backlinks. This plugin helps you get reciprocal backlinks to your blog. As I’ve mentioned before reciprocal link backs are a great way to help your SEO for your site or blog.

The plugin installation is so quick and easy it takes about 2 minutes! Once installed it shows a widget on your blog sidebar which webmasters can submit a link request. The script then checks to make sure the URL entered contains a link to your site and if it does adds the link to your site.

WP-Backlinks doesn’t show the same link on each page so if you have 100 pages @ 4 links per page thats a possible 400 link backs!

As mentioned in yesterdays post with the page rank update happening soon this could be a really could plugin to start using!

Since the hack of my directory I have been unable to and also couldn’t bothered sorting out my directory site. So when I came accross 45n5’s new script to ‘build a mini site in less than 10 mins’ I had to give it a go! I used the old directory domain to test the script and setup my FREE directory list site.

Basically this site I’ve created is just a list of all the free directories I come across. This will make it easier for you guys when adding to directories to increase your backlinks. If you dont know what I am talking about please check out my earlier post.

As it is rumored that there will be a page rank update soon this should be useful to a lot of people!

I didn’t get quite the response I wanted with only 11 people entering. But then again I didn’t really promote it that much.

Congrats Charlotte! No website left in your comment but I’ve sent an email requesting your post details. I hope you enjoy the game.

Better luck next time to the others that entered

I joined up to AGLOCO under John Chow and really I haven’t promoted it very much other than under my ‘Make Money’ page. After several months of hearing nothing in terms of payout I’ve uninstalled the toolbar because for one its annoying when I boot up my pc and also because I’m not sure AGLOCO is ever going to payout and exactly how much they will do if i continue with it. I would rather just uninstall the toolbar so it doesn’t popup when I bootup (yes I know I can probably change the settings so it doesn’t).

I just wanna see what you guys think about it?

OK your new to blogs, you hear this word RSS all the time but your not quite sure what the f*ck it is so you look it up on google… and you find out it stands for “Really Simple Syndication”, but what does that mean ?

Ok I’m gonna put it really simple because I know you can’t really be bothered to read a load of jargon etc on the subject. RSS is when you subscribe to some ones website feed, which means you get automatically updated with the content on that site.

There are 2 ways to subscribe to a feed one of them being giving your email address to receive auto updates via email. Or you can save the blog or sites feed to a feed reader…

Ok Marc but what’s a feed reader ? Its a program that lets you read all your feeds easily. There are plenty of these about, do a search on google and you will come across http://www.feedreader.com/download this is the first one I downloaded and I’ve stuck with it ever since. It makes it a lot easier to view all your favorite blogs rather than bookmarking!
