I recently come across a site called Google shadow. I thought it was a brilliant idea as it uses a black background rather than white it saves power of up to 20%. Google shadow provides a .gov link to show the evidence behind this idea. They are also upfront and honest about the amount of money generated by using Google shadow which is $0.01 which half of that income is given to charity!

I take my hat off to the person who has created this site because a lot of people will switch because of the charity and the energy saving. In reality this site is no doubt amazing money maker.

I would like to add one more point to this post.. I am getting a lot of visitors to this site but not many comments on the posts. If you are reading this now post a comment and say you were here! don’t forget to put your website in as it gives you another link!

Text Link Ads (TLA) is a marketplace to buy and sell links. It is a good way to get some extra income into your site or blog, or if you want to buy links to increase your Google page rank. One down fall to buying the text links from TLA is that it doesn’t tell you what language the site is in. However, TLA do offer a full money back guarantee if your not happy with your purchase.

Once signed up to the publisher program your site/blog needs to be reviewed by the moderators before you can start selling links on your site/blog. I’m still waiting for mine to be accepted! Your link price is set by Text Link Ads and is based on Alexa, Google Page Rank, number of RSS subscribers, and other factors. The ads aren’t intrusive so your readers wont be bothered by them.

TLA also offer a very good affiliate program. You can make money being a TLA affiliate by setting up a banner or text link referring traffic back to text-link-ads.com. Any referred traffic that results in a new paid client or new publisher will earn you $25.00. The top TLA affiliates are making over $1,000.00 per month. The amount you can make depends upon the quality of the traffic you refer to TLA.

I can wait for my blog to be accepted then I can start making some money with TLA!

The recent post showing the importance of getting links to your website has inspired me to start a program ‘review my blog for a backlink’. Ok its quite easy, you review my site on your blog or website around 150 words or so. Include my anchor text ‘make money online’ with a link to my hompage and a link to this post.

Here is an example review:

“Marc Eilbeck .com is a blog which gives you tips on how to make money online. He is offering a free backlink to your site if you review his blog“

Other than the above you are free to say anything you want in the review good or bad. You can also link to any articles I have written in the review. The post must a be a review of this blog you cannot mix it up with other reviews.

Now first thing you will say is that this site hasn’t got a page rank and this guy is trying to tell me how to increase it? WTF? Well this site is very new as you can see from the first post. I’m not claiming to be an expert at SEO, not at all, but I hope to give some useful information for people who are starting out or perhaps people who aren’t starting out!

Some useful ways to get linkbacks to your site.

Signature links on forums:

Join up to some big forums with lots of members and put your links as your signature. Warning: some forums only allow a certain amount of links/signature. A good forum to use is DigitalPoint its my favorite if you ever need help about web mastering you will get it there and you wont need to wait forever to get a reply, normally its within a minute or 2. There is a minium amount of posts and you have to have been a member for I think to get links in your signature, but I think it is well worth the wait!

Submit to web directories:

Submitting to directories is a long and laborious process. However it is essential to increase page rank.The best thing to do is submit to free non-reciprocal directories such as:

Reciprocal link building is often a hard task as you need to find a site that is going to benefit from being your page and also a site that YOU will benefit from being on. Once found a site you want to link swap write a personalized email to the webmaster. Don’t forget to include the following in your email 1. ask for their link information 2. include your link in html format 3. explain why the link exchange would benefit both parties

Buying links

You can save yourself time by buying links, either from digital point forum, text-link-ads and many other places. I personally wouldn’t spend my money on buying links until my site was earning regular income, but it depends on how much cash you guys have! I’m a poor student!

Today I have changed my permalink structure to post name rather than the default (?p=23). I found it difficult to find out how to do this because whenever I changed the structure it told me to update the .htaccess file and the posts then wouldn’t link properly. After posting a question on DigitalPoint I soon found then answer.

Login to your hosting account through FTP, goto the directory where the blog is installed (maybe public_html if installed at root), change permissions of the .htaccess file to 666 and then try to update/save your permalink structure from wordpress.

I hope this information helps some of you bloggers, as it helped me!

If the .htaccess file doesn’t exist, upload/create an empty file of that name and follow the process above.

There is free software available to help you do this such as joomla and wordpress. This site uses wordpress for example. The advantage of using one these is that there is several free themes available to customize your site once its installed.

Set your prices (if selling somthing)

Most new business persons tend to set their prices too low and think more people will buy because of its low price. People think low price then its low quality. You should set your prices to the top third of your industry, as its easier to lower your prices than it is to higher them.

This is a free classified ads website with millions of viewers from all over the world. You can get some traffic instantly by making regular listings on their website.

Start marketing with gumtree.com

gumtree.com is very similar to craigslist.com except the fact that it is dedicated to UK users. Again regular posts will get instant traffic!

Post a video on youtube.com

you tube is a video sharing website with a huge amount of traffic. This is easier than it sounds it doesn’t have to be professional at all. You can record one with your digital camera or webcam, make a screen recording of your computer (even a powerpoint presentation) with software like Camtasia. Create a video about something useful and put your website URL at the end. You will surely get traffic.

Network your family and friends

send a email to everyone in your contact list, telling them about your new business. Put a message at the end of the email to forward the email to anyone who might find it interesting. That way you can reach a large amount of people from just one email.

Write a eBook then give it away!

Even if you aren’t a writer, you can put together a great article. Think of something your potential customers might want to know. For example with driving lessons ‘10 top tips to pass your driving test’. Contact owners of websites who might find it useful to have your eBook for content then put a link to your site on every page!

I’ve been using for a little over a week and found it to be a very good alternative to Google adsense. In fact bidvertiser is adsense’s main competitor. The main advantage it has over adsense is its low payout level at only $10. A lot of people will know and are still waiting to hit the magic $100 figure with adsense. So having the $10 payout level is quite attractive. Also the bidvertiser ads look a little different compared to adsense (they are still fully customizable), so readers may take more of a interest in them as nearly everyone uses adsense!

I did a quick stumble upon about 1 hour ago and came across a video on Google called ‘The Boy With The Incredible Brain’ as a scientist in training I found this video very interesting and watched in all the way through for 40 minutes!

Looking at a site today called AdBux.org today which pays you to visit advertiser’s websites. The site boasts a Total Members of 175,883 which some of them are seeing payouts of hundreds or even thousands. Which I hope to join in getting some of that cash!
